Prenatal Care
Congratulations on your new journey! Our goal is to be a part of your birth team and support you in any way that we can.
Why should I see a chiropractor when I'm pregnant?
During pregnancy, there are several physiological and endocrinological changes that occur in preparation for creating the environment for the developing baby.
The following changes can result in a misaligned spine or joints:
Protruding abdomen and increased back curve
Pelvic changes
Postural adaptations
Establishing pelvic balance and alignment is another reason to obtain chiropractic care during pregnancy.
Chiropractic care in pregnancy is vital to the normal physiological function of both the mother and baby throughout pregnancy and birth. More women and birth providers are discovering the many benefits associated with chiropractic care in pregnancy and recognize this area of expertise through Webster Certification.
What is the Webster Technique?
The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment, which reduces nerve system stress, and improves pelvic biomechanical function. Its purpose is to detect and correct Sacral Subluxation and S/I joint dysfunction. This technique is great for pregnant women with low back and hip pain.
Special attention is paid to mom’s pelvic alignment, utilizing the Webster Technique.
Patients receiving this kind of care report much shorter and easier delivery of their child, with fewer complications or need for forceps or suction devices during delivery.
At the time of your first visit, the doctor will talk to you about your pregnancy and any concerns. You will then be assessed for the Webster Technique. You will lay face down on the chiropractic table with pregnancy pillows which is used for your belly.
We encourage patients to start treatment as soon as they become pregnant. This will help to keep the pelvis aligned properly while the body is changing due to the growth of the baby.
Dr. Ashtiani is certified in Webster Technique through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association.

Postpartum Care
After mom gives birth to her baby, we often forget about mom and her recovery. Often after birth, whether vaginally or via c-section, the mother’s pelvic biomechanics change – these changes can bring discomfort with walking, nursing and sleeping. We restore the pelvic balance with similar manipulation, exercises and stretches that were used during prenatal care. We see a lot of moms having upper back tension afterwards due to breastfeeding, holding/rocking the baby, carrying the car seat, and well just mom life! Soft tissue work and adjustments can definitely benefit mom to alleviate some of her discomfort.
How soon can I come in after I've given birth?
Well it depends on your recovery. We have seen moms stop by on their way home from the birth center, and others who have waited 6 weeks. A good rule is, if you're ok leaving the house, you are ok to come in! One thing to watch out for is bleeding. Make sure before coming in that you are not experiencing heavy bleeding. Moms who have had a c-section tend to wait until about 4-6 weeks before coming in.
